My Approach to Therapy

Hi and welcome!

​

I'm Al, and I am a Psychotherapist, Clinical Counsellor, and Psychosexual Therapist practising in Calgary, Alberta.  

​

I share my time between my family, my private practice and various volunteer positions in and around the Calgary area. I have worked successfully with youth, adults and seniors; individually, in partnerships, and in family systems to identify, address and resolve a wide variety of issues.

 

I have provided presentations and workshops on alcohol, drug and process addictions, sexual gender and relationship diversity, stress and anxiety management, meaningful communication, successful living, and moving on from broken relationships.

I work from a collaborative, client-centred approach which guides, directs, and challenges you in a gentle and compassionate manner toward the core of your issues. I am grounded in a firm belief that you are the expert in your own life. My aim is to help you connect with your own intuition and highest wisdom in order to bring about healing and empowerment. I believe that counselling can help you:

  • embrace, affirm and and enhance the sexual self in a safe, accepting, and professional space

  • identify and change self-sabotaging patterns in your life

  • overcome addiction and maintain long term abstinence

  • learn healthier ways of coping with and managing uncomfortable feelings

  • better identify your needs, feelings, and thoughts

  • develop clarity in your ideal life path

  • become calmer, happier, more peaceful, and more accepting of yourself and others
